July 6 - Day 8

Scene on road to Seward

THE ADVENTURE TOUR! HOPE, ALASKA

Hope sits at the northern end of the Kenai Peninsula at Resurrection Creek. It is on the south shore of the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet and on the winding 17-mile Hope Highway, a spur from the Sterling Highway. The town is also accessible by a state-owned 2,000-foot gravel airstrip. It is a gateway for recreational pursuits in the adjacent Chugach National Forest.

On the edge of the bluff overlooking Bear Creek are six log cabins - Discovery Cabins. Nestled in the spruce and birch, each offers privacy and the constant hushed sound of the creek. There is a much larger lodge building featuring a large second story deck and indoor dining area for groups or rental, with laundry and shared baths below.

When you visit Hope (which you must certainly do!), if it's meal time, don't miss Tito's Discovery Cafe.

Moose crossing the road. Moose were probably the most visible large animal we saw on the trip. This one was less than 1/2-mile from the cabins.
